Don't use nail polish remover or any other solvents/thinners (eg. acetone or trichloroethane) anywhere on plastic oboes as they can dissolve the plastic.
Use a small amount of denatured alcohol (ie. methylated spirits or isopropyl - they use that for cleaning vinyl LPs with) to degrease toneholes as that won't damage the finish, and only clean the affected areas.
(don't use alcohol to clean any shellac 78s with!)
