I was just wondering about makes such as Patricola, Bulgheroni, and Fossati. I know it's a matter of opinion, but what is the opinion of others regarding the overall sound of these instruments? I know each instrument is different, but each company must produce instruments with certain characteristics. Are they on par with Loree or Laubin for example? Do the rosewood or other exotic wood instruments produce a warmer sound but perhaps with slightly less projection? So many oboes, so little opportunity to try them all. Other makes that have interested me include Hans Kreul, Puchner, Marigaux, Dupin, Chauvet, and Rigoutat, though I have never tried them. I currently own a Loree Royal. I tried a Howarth XL and I liked it. Not sure why, but I wasn't crazy about the Buffet Greenline, though I've heard great things about it. It seems that so many people say that they want a darker sound, so I would think the German oboes would produce a sound that is darker than the French, with the exception of Marigaux which is probably among the darkest from what I understand. I know someone who has a Loree dm bore (German style) and she loves it. I wonder why the dm bore isn't more popular. Sorry for rambling, probably too many questions that are too hard to answer.
