As far as beginner commercial reeds go, I would try Emerald (available on Ebay and other sites). Or go to the Woodwind & Brasswind site and order their house-brand student reeds. You might also like Evans reeds (also available on Ebay -- just go to Ebay and type "evans oboe" into the search window. Evans makes a very free-blowing reed. You also might want to look at Patty Mitchell's site (http://oboe.planetmitchell.com/oboe/) and check out her reed links. Good information on this site, in general.
