The Kohlert is a basic German system, you have to open each 8ve key in turn rather than keeping the thumb on the back 8ve when switching to the top 8ve otherwise both 8ve keys will be open together. So when going from G-A, release the thumb touch as you open the 2nd 8ve key while lifting LH3 (and rotate your left wrist upwards while doing this).
The lower joint has some interesting linkages on it around the C-Eb area. The low B key will close the C key with it.
The bell has a rim around the inside like Baroque and Classical oboes, and as it only goes to low B, it doesn't need such a long bell compared to modern oboes.
