"all oboe blowing is fortissimo blowing" -- well, certainly get the message, but i'd rather describe it in terms different from those used for dynamics to avoid confusion -- what other terms are used out there?
i have to laugh at the discrepancies in blowing instructions i've received
(a) half century ago -- squeeze like toothpaste
(b) 2 years ago -- push out against tight waistband or belt buckle
Have been trying to do (b), this article recommends (a) -- so now I can return to 'squeezing toothpaste' -- and as a bonus, i also now feel a lot better about not returning to that current teacher
Never felt / understood what the term 'focus' actually translated to in physical technique, but this article describes it as maintain the airway as if blowing low D all the time which equals instruction half century ago (didn't comprehend it then either) 'blow the drone note' -- AHA, now it all makes sense
... gotta dash, practice new / renewed concepts :-)
