Well, IMHO, all the time is better, as the difference between a good reed & one that doesn't work at all or is flatter than the Kansas wheat fields can be measured with a knife stroke or two amounting to less than the thickness of a human hair or of a piece of cigarette paper (0.02-0.03 mm) You have to be very careful when you insert the anvil between the reed blades. Wet better than dry.
