All this talk of backup instruments reawakens an unresolved issue in my mind: do I get rid of the Prestini that my parents bought for me 33 years ago? Much sentimental value, and not a bad horn at all, but I never play it now that I have the Marigaux. And not the plastic backup that would enable me to play outdoors with confidence. And if I sold it, and used the proceeds towards and English Horn...but how can I sell it, seeing how my parents overextended themselves to buy it, and I played on it for so many years, and it is a reasonable backup...ARRRRGH! I think I will put this issue back out of my mind again....
