I find reeds respond differently in rain, or sun, or low barometric pressure, or if the stars are misaligned... :) I totally share your frustration. But that's part of what makes oboe players so great - we're so adaptable! Still, I know there were times I would look over at, say, the flutes with so much jealousy that their instruments were essentially the same every time, while ours are so different each time we pick them up!

(I don't mean to oversimplify flute-playing, I know there's a whole different set of issues there and weather can affect them too...just that sometimes I'd be so frustrated I'd want to be playing *anything* that didn't have a double reed!)

You have my sympathies. :)
