I took small pieces of paper and drew and labeled where each screw came from then taped them to the paper so there was no way they could get lost.

I would not have had the nerve to attempt it without my Sawicki book. Now though, I'm not able to get it adjusted right. Unfortunately, many of the adjustment screws are not on this model of oboe. I guess the new pads aren't quiet correct or something like that because as of now, I'm not getting anything below F#. I've adjusted on this every evening for three nights now. At one time, all notes were sounding except low C which has never sounded, but then the D and Eb were very weak and off so I've kept fooling with it. I've adjusted and re-adjusted every screw on this thing so many times.

I tell you, it's getting to me. I'm about ready to dump it and quit until I get a decent instrument to learn on. (but I can't stand defeat either so I'll keep at it)
