Saxophone fingerings on an oboe eh? See that seems silly to me because learning new fingerings would by far be the EASIEST part of switching from saxophone to oboe. Going from a single reed with the type of air used on a sax to a double reed with the air column required for oboe, now that's hard. I bet if there were any saxophonists who did decide to play on that saxophone-fingering oboe, they sounded like feces.

Also, clarinet fingerings would be impossible on the oboe since the harmonics being utilized by clarinet fingerings are only possible on an instrument with a cylindrical bore, not a conical bore like the oboe. I've always wondered about other combinations though, such as:

What would a cylindrical bore instrument with a double reed sound like?
What would a cylindrical bore instrument made of brass like a saxophone sound like?

I used to wonder what a conical bore double reed instrument would sound like, but then I discovered this wacky contraption called a sarrusophone. Wicked.
