 Does doubling hurt oboe embouchure?

This is a problem that my daughter (age 15) is frequently confronted with: When music professionals (conductor of youth orchestra, oboe instructor who is principal oboe in a symphony orchestra) find out my daughter plays the alto sax, they tell her she shouldn't double as it will hurt her oboe embouchure.

Is there any merit to this? How would they know, since they don't double themselves? A new oboe teacher she's trying said she will get confused on her embouchure. But she says she doesn't--she started both 6 years ago, so both are her "primary' instruments.

I can see that time constraints would be a problem, but that's not my concern right now and it's a separate issue.

She keeps her mouth shut about also playing bassoon and clarinet though!
