As a challenge to myself, I took the bottom joint of my old clunker of an oboe down to the nub, replaced most of the pads,put cork on parts that hadn't had that in many a year, polished the keywork and actually got it back together. It was like working a strange puzzle that I hadn't a clue about, but it works. It doesn't sound any better, but it does look better and it was a great learning experience.
Now if I can just learn to play the thing........
