... if (after a fair trial and you've been there, done that) the instructions don't work for your particular hand, change your hand position so it's right for you and ignore the instructions, who's playing the oboe? A slight wrist rotation inwards may make all the difference to your comfort and ease of playing without compromising the wrist's stability. Did you know that, when arms are down at the sides, men's arms are usually fairly straight at the elbow joints and women's are usually curved? So instructions that work for the gander doesn't always work for the goose.
