I would recommend trying Midwest Musical Imports - their rentals were MUCH cheaper than some other places you would be likely to try. If you can get it for a month that would be great - many places have a weekly rate and a monthly rate. A week is pretty short to get your reeds together.
Do you make your own oboe reeds? The last time I rented I got some shaped damore cane and some tubes and just made a few reeds myself -- I have found the reeds for sale to be mostly nasty, although I haven't tried a lot of places of course. I didn't have a mandrel - but using my oboe mandrel didn't seem to adversely effect the reeds, I was just careful. But I found them much more forgiving to make than oboe reeds (more like EH reeds). Good luck!
