The 'Philadelphia D' is an extra adjustment screw on the low C key that closes the lower part of the D#-E split plate (there's a small lug soldered to the lower part of the D#-E split plate for the adjusting screw to act upon) - it lowers the inner bush to flatten the top D - but without it, you can use the LH Eb key in conjunction with the C key as this does the same thing - but ONLY if you have a D#-E split plate for RH3.

So the fingering for top D without the Philly D mechanism is oxxEb|o(x)oC

Check the tuning by pressing and releasing the LH Eb key.

This only works on full Gillet conservatoire oboes with the split D#-E trill mechanism.
