nice to know from the schuring chart that this is an officially approved trick. and that's a great idea, putting down the left index as soon as the high D is secure, which will help get to the B smoothly (the next note after the B is a C, and I kept putting my finger down on the vent tab since i was plunking it down from the air at the END of the D, so this will get me there faster and in the right place for the C). I guess it's not just my oboe then, which is good to know, and it definitely wasn't a reed issue this time. i also got another good tip off this board a bit back, which was to screw down the halfhole as far as it'll go so it doesn't come up much at all...that helps hit the high D when lifting as well and keeps the pitch about right, and it's also good for the c/c# trill maneuver...anyway, thanks guys, i knew you could help!
