Is your orchestra unionized or does it have a committee of some sort composed of musicians to represent it? Ask them to start documenting incidents of conductor conduct which is unnecessarily derrogatory or demeaning. If the list becomes long, then the musicians have greater credibility in going to management with a demand that the conductor be censured or controlled. If it was an isolated incident, then ignore it and rise above it, and be aware that your colleagues sympathize with you for the inappropriate abuse you received. And you might be able to rock the conductor a little by greeting him/her in a friendly manner sometime off-stage. Often such insecure personalities just need to feel respected before they are able to themselves act respectfully.
