Thank you everyone here who have shared so much insight on my behalf; this is an awesome oboe forum and I love learning about this amazing instrument.
One of my extreme setbacks at this time of my life is living where I do; not much going on here, even with music stores; there is one...and as you can guess, the main part is pianos; the rest of the store is based on popularity.

I hope it works, the sound though makes it hard to understand her teaching, but it gives me an idea of what to expect at least visually.

I plan to check there at YouTube for more information about related instruments to see how they differ musically as well.

My chanter is indeed one of those things they recommend one buy that relates to bagpipe training. I was quite astonished when I got it; it only plays duck sounds and that is all. Grin. But it was not much money for a beautiful oddity (in my book anyway). It is an exercise tool.

Oh, I have another question, and it does pertain to clarinet versus oboe talk...does an oboe instrument get wet inside from moisture from playing?
Or does the reed/cork prevent that? Or is the cork or piece that is inserted into the oboe have a channel drilled through it? Or is it a solid cork piece?

Also, what is the lowest note that it plays? It seems like it goes quite high, but how low?
