Hi,
I also am a recreational player that plays in a community band. At the time that I bought my oboe, I tested a new Loree, a Fox 300 and a Fox 450. I also had another player (a music major and an awesome oboe player) test them with me who said "I know I'll like the Loree". We were both surprised at the tone and feel of the Fox instruments. At the time, the Fox 450 was $1000 dollars less that the Loree and it has a plastic top joint so there is no need to worry about outdoor concerts. I haven't been disappointed in my decision to buy the Fox 450. My family chose the Fox for having better tone when I had them sit out of the room and the forked F was more in tune than the Loree. The only benefit to the Loree AK that I noticed was that the high notes above the staff seemed to have a slightly sweeter sound. I don't know if it was real or imagined. Anyway, it's fun to shop around and try different horns.
Good Luck!
Debbie
