The Oboe Classics site, http://www.oboeclassics.com/, has a very interesting 2-CD set, The Oboe 1903-53, which has many examples of playing styles that have disapeared. My favorite tracks of Bruno Labate and the Vienna Philharmonic players doing the Beethoven trio.

Oboe Classics also has a very fine Goosens CD and another of Han de Vries, who sounds like no one playing today.

The French style, personified by Pierre Pierlot and Andre Lardrot, is almost gone, but fortunately some of their LPs have been reissued on CD and are available through Amazon.

Lothar Koch played in the German style and sounded like no one else. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_i_1/002-7635241-4450462?ie=UTF8&keywords=%22lothar%20koch%22&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3A%22lothar%20koch%22%2Ci%3Aclassical&page=1

Many of Robert Bloom's recordings have been reissued by his widow, and are essential listening. Several of them are available at a good discount from CD Universe, http://www.cduniverse.com/classical.asp?HT_Search_Info=robert+bloom&HT_Search=PERFORMER&cart=434459730&style=classical&ctype=parse, and the rest are on Amazon.
