de Lancie taught of a "Sonic Placement" of every note. Each note had it's certain tone, texture, pitch placement, and necessity from air, and to take away from it to "throw the note out of place" would be betraying the note. Not to say that you shouldn't change colors of a note, but generally, to stay true to the note, and to the instrument itself. Your comments just made me think of that.
