On the baroque oboe keys with flats (i.e. F major, Bb major, D minor and G minor) sounds good, that's probably why there were so many pieces for the oboe back then in g minor.

By the way, the Bach g minor sonata was originally in b minor (for flute) while the Handel was in fact a violin sonata.
