What are you wondering about,Jen? How you can have nice tone already?
I have nice tone, too, and I've never had a lesson, and I've also just been playing since November. Partly it's the oboe (I started with a good one) and big time it's the reed (also got lucky there, thanks to some of the advice I found on this board -- Stuart Dunkel is my current choice). I also have read my eyes blind about how to play the oboe. But beyond that, there is this little matter of knowing what it ought to sound like -- and it sounds to me like you kinda know what you want to sound like, since you play so many instruments.
I also know that I will have to get some lessons someday soon if I am going to progress to the extent that I want to. Bummer. I always want to do it by myself, but I've got to admit, self-help doesn't always work. At least, not past a point.
Good luck!
Susan
