I was bred and born on classical music, hence, my love for the oboe and clarinet.
The oboe I have is one of the intermediate Yamahas; it's wooden. Plays wonderfully; can be a bit finicky on humid days, or on really cold days, but otherwise I love the instrument. Has only broken once the entire time I've had it, which is surprising. My friend owns her own oboe and it keeps randomly unaligning itself!
I'm using Martin (Mitchel?) Lescher reeds; they play wonderfully after about a day's worth of playing (For me, about 4 hours or so.) Soaking my reeds makes me terribly, terribly flat. I don't do it. Would rather do it the good old conventional (there's that word again!) way and just play 'em until they work.
I need to learn how to make reeds. Anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find some good information?
