... in Hal Leonard's Book 3, intermediate, standard basic 'Classical' trills would be in key signature, start on written note, trill up to next note in key signature & finish on written note.

How many Baroque tune extracts are there in your Hal Leonard book?
Use Baroque trills on those, and Classical on everything else.

Trills written out in Book 3 Essential Elements are shown in 16ths for each beat -- seems about right speed for the technical ability of intermediate fingers

Hi F trill in Sousa -- i'm curious, Hi F (not Top F) -- are you playing off flute part?
