 Embouchure

I am starting on the oboe, for 2 reasons, I love the sound and I am using this experience to force myself to quit smoking.

That being said, I have yet to pick up the oboe and attempt to make sound. I am trying to grok the notion and motion of the air + reed + embouchure. I am a singer by trait, and based upon different embouchure and "crow" tutorials. I drop my jaw, place the reed on the pink flesh of the lip, close the mouth while bringing the left back toward the teeth. While blowing, should the reed generate a pitch, or should it be a constant stream of air.

I have a teacher, but I can't start any lessons at the earliest till next month. Between work, school and rehearsals [singing], I am trying to work on my embouchure prior to my first lesson.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
