I also use the Shapton system and swear by it. They're expensive, but take care of them and they'll last the distance. i use the 500, 2000, 5000, 8000, and 15,000 stones, with the diamond-glass resurfacer. Note that you can not buy a stone without either buying the lapping plate/powders ($200-ish) or the diamond-glass resurfacer ($380-ish).
