Oh the frustration of oboe reeds.
Thanks for all the advice above. I believe I have gained knowledge from it, but I seem to have taken a step back reedmaking wise, so implementing the above may take some time.
I don't feel confident in the reeds that I've made the last two days to even present them for an argument. I had adjusted the curvature of the blend to them, but I don't think that was the right course of action. I'm getting hard and flat reeds under 70mm now. Not happy about that. Maybe the angle of the triangle shape in the blend is too shallow or deep. Maybe I took too much from the heart or blend. I will attempt to work on these reeds more, but I feel I may need to start with new cane once more.
I don't feel I've been biting. I feel like I've been using a bit more lip pressure to play above high C. (I wonder if the reed has been too open at the tip). The crow has been resistant, and when I try to ease the response, it goes flat. The reeds are a bit flat, and I'm taking in too much reed. I want to make a sharper reed, so that I may play more at the tip. I can play them in tune, but not the way I want to.
