Some of us do things differently than others. My reeds look quite different than the ones in the photos. I also could not expect a B crow reed to play up to 440 pitch, and would not rely on such a reed. It also makes a difference where you crow the reed, tip or near thread. The first consideration to me is whether the reed can be played with stability at 440 pitch over it's range. Dynamic range and ease of blowing are next in importance. The instrument can create an adequate sound, especially if you lower the jaw, letting the reed vibrate. Good luck!
