Actually, my very first oboe was a Linton resin (plastic) model.

It was good enough. Free-blowing, nice enough sound.

When you get one, BE SURE you get one with "full conservatory" keywork. That was my biggest mistake -- to buy the cheapest, stripped-down model.

You NEED the left hand F and the low Bb, IMHO.
