My teacher makes reeds for all his students as well as for himself. This is in France so they are short-scrape "European" reeds.
He uses the same cane for everyone, so obviously the difference must come from the way he scrapes them. I am not, however, sufficiently advanced, to be able to work out what he does that is different.
Although they look visually very similar, I think he must alter something quite radically in the way he scrapes them, as I can scrape a reed from scratch for myself but have never managed to scrape one for my daughter (either they are too hard for her or I scrape too much and they collapse completely). I can, however, adjust one that our teacher has scraped for my daughter if it becomes unplayable during the holidays, for example.
