Sure, if it doesn't leak, you can start and play a Bundy for a while. Who knows what reed would work best. I guess I'd try a Stuart Dunkel or one of those Lesher reeds at the WW&BW. Mr. Dunkel knows what he is doing. The Lesher reeds are a little bright for my taste. The Chartier reeds used to be made a little more European in style, but I know little about them now. I would not expect a synthetic reed of any maker to be any good. I never found a purchased reed that I really liked, ever. Don't expect any reed you buy to sound great, especially as a beginner. If you continue with it, you will certainly need lessons from an expert teacher.
The left F is nothing to be concerned about. After decades of oboe playing, I could pretty much get along without it, if I had to. We use it when it makes things a little easier. The hole in the bell is found on very few oboes and is not a factor in buying an oboe. Good luck!
