No one seems to mention something very important issue when you soften the reed. Lips, embouchure, instrument angle, articulations and all will evolve naturally to fit your particular physique; teeth, mouth shape, shape of lips and etc.. But your breath control will have to be adjusted to your softer reed. All your breath marks your music will have to be redone. Breath control will change the most and all phrasing on the music need to be reworked.
If you never had breath marks on your music, ask your teacher.
