I agree that one should find one's own voice... I'm happy that mine HAS changed over the years...
I also find some value in adapting sound to match the composition i.e. my 'bach brandenburg' being a bit different from my 'mozart opera' or my 'brahms I' -- I rather like customizing reeds that way -- but still underneath them all I can (happily) detect a sound that I've worked on and developed and honed through the years.
