Okay, I'm pretty new to this board, so forgive me for any mistakes/shortcomings. I have a question, which has probably been asked many times. How does one acquire a good tone for the oboe? More specifically, how can I personally, get good tone? I've been playing for almost three years now. I play on a plastic oboe. It's rather crappy, to be honest. I do however, have reeds that are handmade, by a teacher, for me personally. On my embouchure, I do curl my lips, but I'm not sure if I bite the oboe. (I think I need someone explain this to me.) Additionally, I practice frequently (30min-1 hr.) every day, sometimes up to two hours, if I have time. Could you tell me what factors, for me personally, inhibit me from having that rich tone most oboists have, and how to fix it? Thanks so much!
