 Re: Adjustments for Wonky F

"As far as I know, I don't have to pay for this key as my Moennig has a fabulous service warranty."

That's excellent considering this is an aftermarket addition. Does this mean they'll only be fitting the F resonance key or replacing the entire lower joint with one already fitted with it?

The difference between an F vent and F resonance key is that an F vent (or forked F vent) is fitted to compensate for RH3 being closed when playing F with the forked fingering (xxx|xox) to save opening the Eb key. On conservatoire instruments it remains closed until RH3 is closed on its own and then closed by RH2 again for notes below Eb. Thumbplate systems usually have an open-standing F vent that's controlled by RH3, though some conservatoire instruments (eg. B&H Emperor and Imperial oboes) have the F vent open-standing but this causes some trouble with Bb played with the conservatoire fingering (xxo|xoo).

An F resonance key (or key F vent) only opens along with the F key which is a fairly standard piece of mechanism fitted to German instruments (but sometimes fitted to thumbplate or conservatoire instruments by non-German makers).

Pro model cors often have the F vent remain open to vent E and is closed when both RH2 and 3 are closed together. Some have the closed F vent (eg. Rigoutat) and some have an open standing F vent that opens and closes with RH3 (as on thumbplate systems). So on cors, the F resonance key isn't fitted as the forked F (doubling as an E) vent is open for F played with the keyed fingering anyway.
