Personally, I think politicizing the BBoard is a mistake.
Robin, not at all true what you say about the difficulty of going to or affording college in the U.S. or why Americans are willing to pay sticker price at McGill (most of America's elite private colleges on the level of a McGill offer "needs blind" admissions and heavily subsidize tuitions so that any American who can get it on the merits can attend, but foreign students pay full sticker just like at McGill - it's a business model to favor the locals). The American kids who go to McGill often come from families that would not have qualified for the subsidy to attend a similar school in the U.S., so would have paid at least as much in the U.S., can afford full sticker at McGill, and may even have been rejected by universities of similar caliber in the U.S. My guess is McGill's standards are probably a bit lower for the full paying foreigners than for the subsidized Canadians, but that's how you balance a budget! There are over 3,000 colleges in the U.S., and the barriers to higher education are low. With all due respect, you haven't a clue what you're talking about. Nothing worse than ill-informed people making ignorant remarks, sort of how many feel about Mrs. Palin.
