I am pleased to report that the bubbling did not occur today (I used the new reed, and it was at A440), and that I came first in my division (against clarinet)! I played much better than I expected I would (I don't usually get nervous, except when it's the first time I am doing something like this!), and since I was treating it as experience rather than competition, I think that helped.
Thanks for the recommendations everyone, I will check with the oboists at UIUC and see where they go, but may stick with someone local-ish, even your IN suggestion, Susan, as I could go for a weekend trip to either pick up or drop off. Can't hurt to see more of the countryside while I'm at it!
