Yay for auditions! Always fun
I unfortunately don't have Till, although we played through it this year and I'm quite confused as to what the excerpt would be. I don't remember it being that hard to hopefully it won't be a big problem for you!
As far as preparation goes, one thing that I find really helps is to religiously (along with normal practicing of course) play through all the excerpts without stopping exactly as if it were an audition. Don't talk or make other noises. It works better also if you get a friend to call out the excerpts in random order so you get used to being able to whip them off in any combination. Also, I find at least for myself it helps to really, really drill the first couple of bars of the excerpt. Drill setting your embouchure right, and attacking the note perfectly every time. Practice putting the oboe down a couple of minutes, and picking it back up again and just playing the excerpt without warming up. I personally find that if I can be really comfortable with the first few bars of the excerpt and start it off on the right foot, the rest will usually go well.
