c-c# assuming that you are talking about c on the space is easy when you go down and difficult when you go up simply because of a fingering problem...i suffered that still very often some time ago and it takes lots of concentration and practise to kind of sort if out.

[some advise that might work for you, worked for me, =) ]

i have also studied a master class book published by hal leonard some time ago on oboe and talks about the exact fingering problem. Its no unusual, and often not a reed problem. You have to analyse where the problem is. When going from xoolxoo (c =fingering) to +xxlxxx C#key (c# fingering) it becomes a bit more complicated and awkward to finger because you add fingers and when you do so you have to really make sure everything finger closes the relevant pads at the very same time.

there is this old saying, and i bet everyone will think so. playing any instrument is not easy, and that applies the same to the oboe. its difficult when you never practise, and it becomes a worthy tool when you put an effort in it. I complained about reeds once in a while now, which compared to a year ago, i was complaining about them everyday. i never really get a reed which i am completely satisfied with now anyways, and when i do, it wears out in a short period of time and i go sad... =(

i dont play american style and i dont play store boughts, but i have tried a few jones before, and they do the job for me. so since you have just started i guess there is going to be such a tendency to complain. No worries...hehe.....so what i can say is...since i cant i see or hear you play, not to mention check your reeds and ya instrument, work more on your BASICS (what we said before in the previous posts works..)...in the end what we are looking for is good music from the oboe playing that counts anyway....so good luck and keep up the good work! (at least we can see that you are enthusiastic coz at least u r starting to complain about the reeds....kekeke.......)
