 Thin sounding high notes
Author: my58vw

Hello again,

Well after the breakin process on my oboe (wood) I have been playing it more and more. I am using these med soft jones reeds and I have not been all that impressed. The reeds are not very consistant, it seems like sometimes I play the high notes are nice and open, round if you would. Sometimes though, expecially after picking up the insrument after a break, re soaking, etc the high notes (anything about a d in the staff, and really at the F in the staff (both fingerings)) sound thin and not full.

Could this inconistancy be the reed itself? I ordered some hand made med soft reeds so we will see how that goes.

On a side note, anyone find the C - C# note going up difficult. I can hit it everytime going down but up is a pain...

Thanks again.
