An interesting warm up that gets one accustomed to a reed rather well is to take the reed alone (well soaked) and play it. Push your embouchure out and flatten the pitch as much as possible. At it flattest push the reed against your lower and sharp the reed as much as possible and flat and sharp over and over. Now give it a shot in your Oboe. Play a note and do the same thing.

I've found I can easily switch between reeds of different hardness levels by playing around with a reed as such.
