Amen to that!
I learned to dip the reed in water, and then as I extract it from the water, to put a finger over the open end, thus allowing the reed to retain a drop or two of water between the blades.
I put the reed(s) thus dipped back into the case, and I am off to wherever. By the time I arrive -- and sometimes even hours later -- the reeds are ready to go.
Neat, sweet, and hard to beat.
