... hey, thanks Ken, great magnet idea, many uses!
... magnet strips much smaller to tote around than those huge plexi sheets used to cover sheet music when playing outdoors (or in the draft from air-conditioning)
... don't find a film canister is high enough to put a lid on it with the reeds inside (tubes stick out) and when three reeds are soaking in film canister it's tippy and spill-prone, so try a wide meds vial, about 75 mm high and covered with a lid to hold reeds soaking inside without spilling on floor if accidentally kicked beside chair ... wider vial is more stable, and it's easier to get two fingers inside to pickup a tube
... can invest quote heavily unquote in a clip-on soaker cup which attaches to the music stand's pole, check out Forrests or Midwest online
... what does one do for the third playing reed? (one in oboe, one soaking, the third is already wet through from playing and needs to air-dry a bit), seems much too fiddly and time-consuming to put up two clip-on cups, one wet, the other dry, haven't seen a double-sectioned clip-on cup yet ... ?
... so i like to keep pre-soaked and over-wet reeds in a reed guard (or a 3-reed case) in T-shirt or pants pocket, which works OK during cool weather, reeds don't dry out too fast... that way no reed currently out of use is exposed to accidental damage, mine or by 'them other' players!
... during really hot weather, leaving reeds soaking in water while practising or playing seems to stay ahead of the game, so don't want any spills or evaporation to lose that vital small amount of reed-soaking water
... ya-hey, we're back to deep-enough covered vial with lid on it, attached to metal music stand with a magnet, yeah!
