Yes, I managed to play decently the Cor Anglais (way back when) with reeds that didn't crow the way I like BUT ...
Doesn't the crow say alot about the reed and predict how it will perform? With the oboe reed it sure does!
Those wheezing crows on the C.A. reed usually get me struggling like crazy to get more than a mezzo-piano, let alone stability! I don't really remember how tuning and stability was on the 2 Loree C.As I played. But I do remember the exhaustion with dynamics.
