My teacher, who is much admired as a cor player, doesn't care much about crow on cor reeds. As an "instrument," a cor reed is much more dominated by the cane than the staple (relative to an oboe reed) and therefore can't be expected to be as predictable. If the thing plays well on the cor itself, it's fine. Nobody ever got a job crowing reeds, but my teacher gets paid to play cor.
