Hi Robin,
Its very nice that you are getting several recording options going for yourself.
Given all you shared in this post, my best friendly advice is 2 parts:
1) to not allow a good warmup to be optional.
Even 5 - 10 minutes can do the trick, and you already know you can pre-warm using your blow through a staple trick. And the reed probably needs a warmup after soaking as much or more than the player does.
From a practical standpoint, you enjoy getting constructive feedback, and I don't think that can happen effectively as a critique of your recordings or playing if you are not warmed up like you would be to play or audition somewhere, even for a community band or orch.
What might be interesting and useful cold would be a recording of a good warmup routine from the first note onward.
2) forget about the can't part, because- - -YES - - - you can!
