Hey there,

Yup, no kidding, 7 times, all in the top joint (and it has 3 more surface cracks at the moment, but they haven't spread anywhere...knock on wood!!).

I own a Yamaha YOB841. To be fair though, most of the oboes don't crack even close to as much as mine. Even the rosewood models which are known from any make to be prone to cracking don't crack very often (at least the ones that I've seen from Yamaha haven't). I just think that my top joint is made of a really weird peice of wood!

That being said, I loooooooooooove my oboe...but it doesn't have a pet name. I have tried but nothing came immediately to mind so I figured that it wouldn't be right if it wasn't the perfect name that came instantly to my head!
