Hi there!

Yes, I name my oboes too! The names of my oboes are usually to do with the make of the oboe. For example my first oboe was a Selmer 'Bundy' and I just called it Bundy. My second oboe was a Ward and Winterbourne and I called that 'Wardy'. My current oboe is a Marigaux and it's name is Marri. I also own a Strasser-Marigaux which is called 'Strass'.

I also don't really think of them of having genders...obviously Marri is a girl...because it's beautiful! But, the others are probably neither sex!

I love playing the oboe and even sometimes after playing well in a concert I kiss my oboe and say...'WELL DONE! You played well tonight!' My oboe is very faithfull to me and still plays top notes when I do the fingerings slightly wrong!

You could name your Linton oboe...Leyla! Does that suit?!

Hope you found this interesting and amusing!

Melli
