I can definitely relate to this!
One of the reasons I switched to oboe (from clarinet) was the weight issue. My R-13 (clarinet) is just a TANK of an instrument. The oboe, in comparison, feels very dainty. I love it!
In fact, I got my oboe because its original owner (a guy) felt that it was even too heavy -- it's grenadilla. He bought a violetwood of the same model, which is apparently even lighter.
I wonder, is there a point past which an instrument can become *too* light?
